Malaysian police find 15 kilograms of drugs at car crash site
Kuala Lumpur - Malaysian police found drugs worth more than 800,000 ringgit (232,000 dollars) while investigating a three-vehicle accident, a news report said Sunday.
Fourteen kilograms of heroin and a kilogram of ketamine were discovered inside one car involved in the crash. Police decided to search the vehicles before they were towed away.
On Saturday afternoon, a tourist bus driver lost control of his vehicle on a major expressway in the northern state of Perak and crashed into two cars, the News Straits Times reported.
The suspected drug trafficker and driver of the second car were reportedly injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police said the man would be arrested and charged with drug possession and trafficking once he is discharged.
Malaysia has tough drug laws that impose a mandatory death sentence on those found guilty of drug trafficking. (dpa)
