Maruti Wins Victory Over Its Indonesian Rivals

Maruti Udyog LtdNew Delhi: Maruti Udyog Ltd is ready to turn into big in the Indonesian small car market.

In the existing fiscal, the company has been capable of capturing around 60 per cent of the small car market in Indonesia with an export order worth 12,000 units, 1,000 units above what the company had told in June.

Maruti company spokesperson stated, “The Indonesian small car market is small, while the overall auto market there is dominated by SUVs. However, with the launch of Estilo since a few months back, we have been able to capture about 60 per cent of the compact car market.”

He added that the company had been able to exceed brands including Chinese car QQ Chery and Hyundai’s Atos, which has around 10 per cent of the small car market there.

Despite Indonesia, the company has also begun exporting Alto in small numbers to the Philippines and Wagon R in the bordering areas.

Out of the total exports till August in the existing financial year, the company exported 5,000 units to Indonesia and to non- European countries such as Latin America, West Asia and South East Asia.

In the company’s annual report released recently, Khattar had stated that the company would export 55,000 units in the recent year.
