London  - A number of people suffered "minor injuries" but no one was seriously hurt in a fire in the Channel tunnel, operators Eurotunnel said Thursday.

"Thirty-two people were evacuated into the service tunnel. There were some minor injuries - reports of smoke inhalation and minor cuts and bruises - but everyone is fine."

French firemen were quickly on site of what was described as a "serious fire" on a truck shuttle. (dpa)
