But a new study has revealed that the use of cell phones can be dangerous for the mental health of youngsters.  

According to a new study by Swedish researchers, the kids and teenagers using the mobile phones excessively are more likely to suffer glioma, a type of primary brain tumour .Experts found in their research that youngsters who started using cell phones in teen age or before were five time more likely to suffer. Those who started using mobile phones at the age of 20’s were twice as likely to get the tumor. 

In the study, researchers found that kids are more at risk because their thinner skulls and nervous system are still developing and their heads are smaller, so the radiation from the cell phones penetrates deeper into the brains.  

Lead researcher Lennant Hardell of University Hospital Orebro said, “People who started mobile phone use before the age of 20 have more than five-fold increase in glioma -- a cancer of the glial cells that support the central nervous system.” He also added, “This is a warning sign. It's very worrying. We should be taking precautions.”  

He concluded that there is a higher risk of developing brain tumor if a person started using cell phone at small age. Kids under the age of 12 should use the cell phones only in emergency and teenagers should use headsets for calling.
