Brisbane, Feb. 9 : Out of favour Australian cricket all rounder Andrew Symonds has started the process for his comeback into the national squad with a blazing knock of 137 in a Brisbane club cricket match.

Playing for the Gold Coast Dolphins, Symonds spanked the Beenleigh-Logan attack to all parts of Dauth Park on his way to 137 off 111 balls.

It was the 33-year-old''s first century in any form of the game since his 162 not out against India 13 months ago.

Batting at No. 4, Symonds was dismissed just before stumps, but not before cracking 21 fours and a six in an innings that underscored his desire to return to the game''s summit, Fox Sports reports.

Symonds was ruled out of calculations for the South African tour last week as Cricket Australia powerbrokers instructed the Queenslander to undergo more rehabilitation.

But if the former Test star can continue the form he displayed Saturday, he will hard to ignore for Australia''s one-day series against Pakistan and the Ashes tour in June.

In a new twist to the Symonds saga, it has emerged he will be nearly a million better off if his exile from the national side continues beyond the tour of South Africa.

Any decision by CA to block Symonds from playing in the one-day series in Pakistan will allow the Queenslander to be available for the duration of the Indian Premier League.

Symonds'' IPL deal with Deccan is worth 1.47 million dollars, and he will pocket every cent by playing out the six-week tournament. But if he is cleared to play five one-dayers against Pakistan, Symonds will have just a two-week window to appear in the IPL, slashing his earning potential to 490,000 dollars.

A five-match stint against Pakistan will earn Symonds an additional 30,600 dollars in match fees - meaning his prospective recall to the national set-up will cost him around 949,400 dollars. (ANI)
