Fed-up beau kills girlfriend
A youth, allegedly facing extensive demands and blackmailing from his girlfriend, killed her on a highway at Chambalpur village in Udaipur. The girl was stabbed in the neck five times and then burnt.
Jashoda Pancholi (21) had been missing since some days and her parents had filed a missing person complaint at the Sardarnagar police station on February 13, said investigating officer of the Sardarnagar police, YR Gameti.
She was an SY BCom student of Nagri College at Ellisbridge and had been in a relationship with Mukesh Pancholi (21), a resident of Odhav, since eight months. However, when he wanted to end the relationship, she allegedly began blackmailing him and even extorted money from him.
On February 13, the couple, who decided to elope, travelled to Shamlaji, Himmatnagar and Dungarpur. "He later took her to Chambalpur, his native village, and made her drink a cold drink laced with sleeping pills," Gameti said. He then stabbed her five times in the neck and burnt her body after pouring petrol on it.
Mukesh, who then came back to Ahmedabad, was nabbed after the girl's parents found out about the relationship. He confessed to his crime on questioning and is in police custody.
