Rumors say Shah Rukh selling KKR; denial by the actor’s public relations agencyDespite rumors abuzz that Shah Rukh Khan has had his fill of the ‘cricketainment business,’ particularly after his team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) performing dismally at the Indian Premier League (IPL), and wants to sell his stake in the team, there have been denials to the same by Shah Rukh’s Public Relations agency.

As per the guesswork making rounds, Shah Rukh – who is under an agreement to pay Rs 300 crores to the Indian cricket board over a decade - is involved in negotiations with Nokia, the Anil Ambani group, and Sahara, about a prospective sale of his KKR team.

Going by a website that quoted unnamed sources at KKR’s holding company Red Chillies Entertainment, Shah Rukh has been trying to sell a stake in KKR, but as most potential buyers also wanted management control, he is now talking to the aforesaid three companies for selling his entire shareholding.

However, rebuffing the rumors, Shah Rukh’s Public Relations agency said that the actor had said on TV channels that he had a major investment in KKR, and he still had strong emotional attachment with the team.

Many groups are willing to buy KKR at high stake. India’s communications director Abhijit Sarkar said: “We have not been approached by Shah Rukh Khan yet. But if he does, we would be happy to buy the team.”
