Power Grid To Set Up Base In Dubai

New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation Limited (PGCIL) has announced publicly that it would set up base in Dubai, and is also considering 20 percent stake in Philippines National Transmission Company for $800 million.

While discussing the growing prospects and added plans, R.P. Singh, PGCIL Chairman and Managing Director stated that the scheme to build up a base in Dubai was to target West Asian projects that are liked to consultancy and infrastructure.

Additionally, Mr. Singh said that the company was looking at Saudi Arabia and Africa, comprising South Africa for running system operations and handling transmission and distribution projects.

Srinagar, Nov 2 : Lieutenant General A.S. Sekhon, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 15 Corps, has said that infiltration still posed a threat in Kashmir.

Lieutenant General Sekhon said rebels continue to cross over the military ceasefire line from areas under Pakistan’s control.

"The attempts are still being made. So, that means there are people in sufficient numbers, some may be under their control, some may not be under their control. But the fact remains that the infrastructure is still there," Sekhon said on the sidelines of a seminar on Thursday.

He further said that army has vacated schools and hospitals occupied by them.
