The recently launched in the Indian market, Nokia 6600i is being touted as the slimmest 5-megapixel sliderphone from Nokia so far. Nokia 6600i boasts of a number of improvements over the Nokia’s first most advanced product, 6600 mobile handset.
The Nokia 6600i is sliderphone, with weight 110 grams (3.9 oz) and dimensions (H x W x D) 93×45x14 mm (3.7×1.8×0.6 inches). The 6600i handset packs 5-megapixel camera in its compact steel body, while its predecessor was equipped with 3.2 mp camera. The camera of 6600i features dual LED flash and auto focus. With an 8x zoom and maximum photo resolution 2592×1944 pixels, the camera is capable of capturing excellent quality images and videos. The 6600i handset also sports a second (front) camera. The Nokia 6600i has colour TFT display with a diagonal of 2.2 inches offering 240×320 pixels resolution and support for up to 16m colors. The phone does not have any external display.
The Nokia 6600i is Series 40 device supporting installation of Java applications. In entertainment features, the 6600i has a FM radio, a stereo headset and a music player supporting MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+ and WMA formats, and video player supporting 3GP, MPEG4 formats. Through internet, the 6600i users can share images and videos, which the phone can record with its VGA support at 15 fps and QVGA support at 30 fps. The phone has an XHTML browser for basic browsing needs of users. The phone can also run Opera Mini for more advanced browsing. The phone also comes loaded with Java MIDP2.0, OMA DRM 1.0 and 2.0. The phone features tap commands, snooze alerts, and option to silence or reject incoming phone calls.
The Nokia 6600i has internal memory of 20MB, and it comes with a 1GB micro-SD card. The phone has a memory slot for expanding the external memory up to 16GB. The phone is powered by Li-Ion 1000 mAh (BL-4U) battery boasting 348 hours standby time and 4 hours talk time.
Other features of the Nokia 6600i include Nokia maps, accelerometer, IM, 3.5mm jack, Flash Lite 3.0, Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP, and USB MicroUSB v2.0. The phone supports WCDMA (850/2100 MHz), and GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz). The phone supports 3G, EDGE, GPRS, GSM, HSCSD, UMTS (3G) networks (850, 900, 1800, 1900, 2100 service). The Nokia 6600i is available in two colors – Black and Silver. The 6600i is available for about Rs. 14000 in India, and in the rest of the world, the phone is available for approx. $288.07.
