Orissa government clears projects worth Rs 127727cr

OrissaThe Orissa government today gave its nod to the projects worth Rs 1,27, 727 crore for the industrialization of the state. New projects would be started in the field of steel, aluminium, power, downstream and ore beneficiation.

The government cleared 3 projects in the steel sector, 2 projects in the aluminum sector, 6 projects in the power sector, one downstream unit and two beneficiation units in the state. A High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) of the Orissa government held a meeting under the chairmanship of the chief minister, Naveen Patnaik. It has decided to set up the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) for providing instant facilities to the industrialists and corporate houses.

The steel and mine minister of Orissa, Pradeep Amat said that the government has cleared enhancement project of Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) and Visa Steel which would be revamped with investment of Rs 16,266 crore and Rs 4995 crore respectively. The state has cleared the Nalco's proposal to set up a 0.5 mtpa alumina smelter and 1260 mw power plant at an investment of Rs 16,345.89 crore. The proposal of the Navayuga Steels to set up a 12 mtpa port based steel complex at Astaranga is also approved by the government.

The state has also approved 3200 Mw coal based mega power plant by the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), 1000 Mw Independent Power Producer (IPP) by Jindal Stainless, Lanco Solar's 250 Mw project and many more industrial projects.
