Ace Ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh said how A R Rahman's song in Slumdog Millionaire 'Jai Ho' won two Oscars as he finds the song overrated.
Singh gave his judgment during the launch of his new album ‘Inteha’.
The 68-year-old legend said that he is very happy that the country has won the Oscars, but at the same time he couldn’t understand on what basis the song was selected for the Oscars.
“Getting an Oscar is no doubt a great achievement but the song, for which we got the award, is not so special. Frankly I did not understand on what basis it was awarded,” he said.
The Mozart of Madras aka the musical legend A R Rahman is all set to add another feather to his cap.
Come July, the Oscar winning Indian music maestro would be awarded with an honorary doctorate by the London based Middlesex University, the latest in the many honors conferred on him in his long career.
Earlier AMU (Aligarh) and the Anna University (Chennai) too had awarded an honorary D Lit to the 43 year old music maestro.

After his Oscar win, music maestro A. R. Rahman is going places in Hollywood. First it was Kylie Minogue who willingly obliged to record a song for him for Blue and now its the hot girl band Pussycat Doll's singer Nicole Scherzinger who has shown interest in recording an album together with the soft spoken music director who has made India proud on the global music scene.
