Ace Ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh said how A R Rahman's song in Slumdog Millionaire 'Jai Ho' won two Oscars as he finds the song overrated.

Singh gave his judgment during the launch of his new album ‘Inteha’.

The 68-year-old legend said that he is very happy that the country has won the Oscars, but at the same time he couldn’t understand on what basis the song was selected for the Oscars.

“Getting an Oscar is no doubt a great achievement but the song, for which we got the award, is not so special. Frankly I did not understand on what basis it was awarded,” he said.

The Mozart of Madras aka the musical legend A R Rahman is all set to add another feather to his cap.

Come July, the Oscar winning Indian music maestro would be awarded with an honorary doctorate by the London based Middlesex University, the latest in the many honors conferred on him in his long career.

Earlier AMU (Aligarh) and the Anna University (Chennai) too had awarded an honorary D Lit to the 43 year old music maestro.

India’s Oscar winner music maestro AR Rahman has been signed by cell phone industry giant Motorola as their new brand ambassador. He will be replacing Motorola’s current brand ambassador famous football star David Beckham.

After having won the Oscars, music maestro would be first time performing live music concert titled ‘Jai Ho’ at Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode, Kerala on May 3 to express solidarity with the HIV positive orphan kids. Apart from Rahman, over 50 well-known musicians will be participating in this show being organized by the NGO Global Kerala Initiative.

Recent double Oscar winner for 'Slumdog Millionaire' A. R. Rahman is fast becoming a very well known name in the international music arena.

Currently he's being featured in a video of American hip-hop singer Akon.

In the video 'Beautiful', Rahman is seen for just a couple of seconds. The Mozart of Madras is seen posing with a group of models and smiling in his usual coy way.

The video also features American pop singer Colby O'Donis and Canadian hip hop artist Kardinal Offishall

After his Oscar win, music maestro A. R. Rahman is going places in Hollywood. First it was Kylie Minogue who willingly obliged to record a song for him for Blue and now its the hot girl band Pussycat Doll's singer Nicole Scherzinger who has shown interest in recording an album together with the soft spoken music director who has made India proud on the global music scene.
