Kotla pitch was unfit for ODI: HarbhajanJalandhar, Dec 30 : Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh said on Wednesday that the International Cricket Council''s (ICC) classification of Ferozshah Kotla pitch in Delhi as unfit was a right decision.

Interacting with the media Singh said: "The wicket was unfit that day. Batsmen were having a tough time. The bounce was uneven and chances of grave injuries were strong. The injuries could also have led to player being unfit to play for next 3-4 months. Considering the way the wicket behaved and what happened to players, the decision of ICC, it was a right decision."

The 36-year-old, Tendulkar will join a list of 15 players whose international careers have spanned more than 20 years when he plays in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Ahmedabad from November 16.

Addressing reporters here, Singh said he wished Tendulkar would continue to dominate world cricket.

Harbhajan SinghColombo, Sep. 10 : Off spinner Harbhajan Singh used his blog on Thursday to defend his jabbing of an ANI cameraman at the Bangalore International Airport on Wednesday.

Bhajji said that he did not slap any cameraperson. He also said that he would never do that as he respects the media and always cooperates with them.

He also said he is focusing on taking the team in attaining the top spot by winning the tri series in Colombo.

Harbhajan jabbed at the photographer after his camera glanced his turban while he was unloading his luggage.

Bhajji fined for breaking Chandigarh traffic rules with his Hummer

HarbhajanChandigarh, Sep. 1 : Driving his dream Hummer landed Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh in trouble on Tuesday, when he was fined by Chandigarh traffic police for using
the vehicle without a valid number plate.

Singh had to pay a 3000-rupee fine for the offence, according to reports.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (traffic), H S Doon, told reporters that this episode would promote better traffic sense among the general public.

The off-spinner became the latest Indian cricketer to buy the American SUV after skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

In his petition filed to the court, local advocate Arvind Thakur said, “After hearing the arguments on the petition, the magistrate issued summons of Harbhajan, Mona and authorities of channel, on which the program was aired, for April 27.”

Mumbai, Jan. 18 : The national selection committee on Sunday announced its 15-member one-day international team for the upcoming cricket tour of Sri Lanka which includes one new face -- Saurashtra all rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

The 20-year-old Jadeja has been rewarded for his consistent performance i. e. taking 42 wickets and scoring over 740 runs in the current first class season His inclusion is stated to have remained on the cards for long time.

Jadeja''s Saurashtra teammate Cheteshwar Pujara, however, was given short shrift as the selectors kept faith largely in the players who had helped India vanquish England 5-0 after winning the previous rubber in Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has not been included for the tour because of a hamstring injury.

Sydney, Dec. 4 : Everyone knows that Australian captain Ricky Ponting has been Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh’s bunny in almost all the series that have been contested between the two countries since 2001, and if Ponting does go through with his `horses for course” strategy, he would probably have to bar himself from facing the Indians anywhere on the cricket field.

At least, that is what former Australian fast bowler Damien Fleming thinks. Fleming told the Sydney Morning Herald that in cases where a horses for courses policy has been followed in the past, it has always been the bowlers, rather than the batters, who have been made the whipping boys.

Harbhajan SinghMelbourne, Nov. 8 : Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting has claimed that when Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh indulged in a racist slur against all-rounder Andrew Symonds for the first time in Mumbai in October last year, the team management decided to let him off and give him another chance.

Revealing this in his “Captain’s Dairy 2008”, Ponting is quoted by the Sydney Morning Herald as saying that when Harbhajan repeated the same slur of calling Symonds a monkey during the nerve-racking Sydney Test in January this year, a chill went up his spine, and “certainly stopped me in my tracks.”
