India proposes prohibition of nuclear weapons

M K NarayananNew Delhi, Feb 7 : India has proposed an international convention for complete prohibition of nuclear weapons to reduce the dangers posed by atomic weapons to humanity.

National Security Adviser M K Narayanan on Saturday said that India is perhaps the only nuclear weapons state to openly favour negotiation of a Nuclear Weapons Convention leading to global non-discriminatory and verifiable elimination of nuclear weapons.

Addressing an international security conference in Munich, Narayanan declared that India advocate''s global verifiable and non-discriminatory nuclear disarmament.

India will not block Chenab water: MK Naraynan

M K NarayananNew Delhi, Oct 13 : National Security Advisor MK Narayanan has said that India will not block Chenab River water to Pakistan.

Talking to a news channel on Sunday, he said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari held ‘a very good’ meeting in New York last month.

He said the Prime Minister was clear on the matter that India would not block Chenab water.

Narayanan said India wants to carry forward the peace process and does not want it to derail.

To a question, he said India would deal with whoever is in power in Pakistan.

M K Narayanan meets Pakistan''s National Security Adviser

National Security Advisor M K NarayananNew Delhi, Oct 13 : National Security Adviser M K Narayanan met his Pakistani counterpart Mahmud Ali Durrani here today.

According to sources, issues like the spate of recent ceasefire violations, rise in cross border infiltration and Indian Embassy bombing in Kabul has gained further significance during the meeting.

Durrani, who shares a very good rapport with top Indian officials, after his arrival said, his aim in coming to New Delhi was to strengthen the bonds of friendship between India and Pakistan.
