Nationwide raids on Madhu Koda's associates was carried out by Income tax officials, who also raided the private secretary of chief minister Shibu Soren as he had allegedly helped the former chief minister amass illegal wealth to the tune of Rs 2,000 crore.

Houses of M. L. Pal were raided by the IT Officials, which came as a serious embarrassment for Soren. Pal has on house in Jamshedpur and two in Ranchi. Furthermore, search and seizure operations in 70 locations across the country, including Patna, Delhi, Mumbai and Chaibasa, were also carried out by IT Officials.

Ranchi, Dec 29 : Former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, at the centre of a Rs. 2,500 crore money laundering scam, who was hospitalized here Monday night after he complained of stomach pain is in stable condition, doctors said Tuesday.

Koda was Monday night shifted to Apollo Hospital from Birsa Munda Central Jail, Ranchi.

"Koda was admitted for complications of urinary tract infection. We will soon decide regarding removal of the ureteral stent that was inserted into Koda's kidney two and half months ago," P. D. Sinha, a doctor at Apollo Hospital Ranchi told reporters.

Ranchi, Dec 23 : His wife Geeta Koda has won, but scam tainted Madhu Koda's seven former ministerial colleagues Wednesday lost the Jharkhand assembly election.

These include former deputy chief ministers Sudhir Mahto and Stephen Marandi. While Mahto was a Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate and lost to the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajantantrik (JVM-P), Marandi contested on a Congress ticket and was defeated by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha's nominee Hemant Soren -- Rajya Sabha MP and son of party chief Shibu Soren.

The other ministerial colleagues who lost were Kamlesh Singh, Bhanu Pratap Sahi, Aprna Sen Gupta, Dulal Bhuiya and Jhobha Manjhi.

Ranchi, Dec 23 - Geeta Koda, the wife of graft-tainted former chief minister Madhu Koda, Wednesday won the assembly election from Jagganthpur constituency defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Sonaram Biruwa.

Geeta Koda secured 28,437 votes and defeated Biruwa by over 8,000 votes. She dedicated her victory to her husband, who is at the center of Rs. 2,500 crore money laundering scam.

"It is the victory of my husband. This is the victory of the people and it is also the victory of honesty of Madhu Koda," Geeta Koda said.

Ranchi, Dec 19 : A court here Saturday permitted the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to interrogate jailed former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda who is allegedly involved in a Rs. 2,500 crore money laundering scam.

The Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court of Pankaj Kumar granted the permission at the request of the ED.

ED officials have also been permitted to visit five foreign countries - Thailand, Dubai, Indonesia, Sweden and Liberia - and gather evidence of investments there.

Jagannathpur (Jharkhand), Dec 18 : Geeta Koda, the wife of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda, who is contesting from Jagannathpur assembly seat here appears to be optimistic and said that corruption charges against her husband would not have a negative impact on the minds of voters.

Madhu Koda is involved in the Rs 4000 crore money laundering scam.

The polling for the fifth and final phase of the five-phased Jharkhand assembly elections began amidst tight security on Friday morning.

Tight security arrangements have been made, as there are chances of violence taking place in the Maoist-dominated areas.

New Delhi, Dec 15 : The multi-crore money laundering scam involving former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda figured in parliament Tuesday with the government admitting to deficiencies in a state-owned bank that reported huge deposits by two companies involved in the scam.

"The RBI (Reserve Bank of India) has found defects of a technical nature," Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said during question hour in the Rajya Sabha.

Ranchi, Dec 9 : Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda and his Kamalesh Singh, accused in the multi crore mine scam, were admitted to hospital here on Wednesday after courts direction for the same.

According to Jharkhand Police, the duo were admitted to hospital on the court’s direction.

"Both Madhu Koda and Kamlesh Singh were brought to the hospital this morning and doctor R. K. Jha, who is the acting head of the medicine, is treating both of them,” said RIMS Director M. K. Rai.

Ranchi, Dec 9 - Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee Wednesday said that the names figuring in the seized diary of jailed former Chief Minister Madhu Koda will be examined.

"All the information available in the investigation will be looked into. The investigation will look into all aspects," Mukherjee told reporters here.

The minister said the investigation will cover the areas of tax evasion, money laundering and other irregularities.

Ranchi, Dec 9 - Jailed former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda and his ex-cabinet colleague Kamlesh Singh were Wednesday shifted to a Ranchi hospital from jail for medical check-up, an official said.

They were taken to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) at the directive of the vigilance court, Birsa Munda Jail superintendent Deepak Vidhyarathi told IANS.

"RIMS doctors will decide whether they will be sent back to jail after check-up or admitted in the hospital," he said.

Ranchi, Dec 7 - The interrogation of former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda and his cabinet colleague Kamlesh Singh continued for the second day in jail Monday as officials probed deeper into the Rs. 2,500 crore money laundering scam.

Koda and Kamlesh Singh, who are at the Birsa Munda Central jail here, were arrested Nov 30. Two other former ministers, Enos Ekka and Harinarayan Rai, are also in the same jail.

Panaji, Dec 4 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday alleged that state support to illegal mining and corruption in Goa's mining industry had reached "unacceptable levels" and vowed to expose "several Madhu Kodas" in the state, during the forthcoming assembly session.

Addressing a press conference here, Leader of Opposition in the assembly Manohar Parrikar said that the state government's moves to carve out new mining leases measuring 600,000 sq mt in South Goa in face of public opposition, smacked of corruption and vested interests.

Ranchi, Nov. 30 : Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda, who is allegedly in the Rs 2,000 crore money laundering scam, was on Monday evening sent to 14-day judicial custody.

The State vigilance bureau arrested him on Monday morning.

Koda, who is presently MP of Chaibasa, is faced with investigations from the vigilance department, Income Tax (IT) department and Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Ranchi, Nov 30 : Jharkhand Police arrested former state Chief Minister Madhu Koda in Chaibasa District on Monday.

Koda, who was facing charges of having disproportionate assets, was also charged for misutilisation of over Rupees 4,000 crore when he was chief minister.

Earlier, the Enforcement Department (ED) had asked Koda to appear before it for questioning, but he skipped all questioning.

Koda has claimed he is innocent and added that all charges of illegal investment in various companies, were baseless.

New Delhi, Nov 27 : Vinod Sinha, a close aide of former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, who is at the centre of a Rs. 2,500 crore money-laundering scam, Friday approached the Delhi High Court seeking anticipatory bail.

Sinha's counsel R. Karanjawala also pleaded with the court that it would be unfair to arrest Sinha when Madhu Koda, who is the main accused in the multi-crore scam, has not been taken into curstody yet, escpecially when he is also willing to cooperate in investigations.

Ranchi, Nov 27 : Former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, who is allegedly involved in a Rs. 2,500 crore money-laundering scam, again failed to appear before vigilance officials for questioning Friday.

The vigilance bureau had summoned Koda for interrogation Friday after he failed to appear on the three dates -- Nov 11, 15, and 19 -- it had called him. According to sources, Koda had told the vigilance bureau he was busy in the election campaign and would appear before it after the ongoing five-phase polls to the state assembly ended Dec 18.

Ranchi, Nov 26 - Former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, allegedly involved in money-laundering of Rs. 2,500 crore, has been summoned by the state vigilance bureau for questioning Saturday, police said.

Madhu Koda will be questioned Nov 28, Inspector General of Police of the Jharkhand vigilance bureau M. V. Rao told IANS Thursday.

The Jharkhand vigilance department in August this year had lodged a first information report (FIR) against Koda and his three ex-cabinet colleagues Bandhu Tirkey, Bhanu Pratap Sahi and Kamlesh Singh.

The Parliament on Tuesday witnessed uproar over the multi-crore scam involving former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, after an angry BJP raised the issue, saying the Congress was hand-in-glove with the former CM and was trying to protect him.

Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha, the BJP demanded a discussion on the alleged scam. BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain alleged the Congress was trying to shield Koda as many Congressmen were also involved in the scam. “Koda got only a small share of the entire corrupt money,” he claimed.

New Delhi, Nov 24 : The Lok Sabha was Tuesday adjourned tice - first over the issue of shortage of fertilisers, and later over the Congress's alleged hand in the multi-crore scam involving former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda.

The entire opposition, led by the Samajwadi Party and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), came down heavily on the government during zero hour for not ensuring supply of adequate fertilisers to farmers, particularly in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

Ranchi, Nov 19 : Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda on Thursday denied receiving any summons from the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax department.

Both the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax Department slapped a multi-crore money laundering case against Koda recently.

Interacting with the media, Koda said: “I have so far not received any summons. When I get one, I will answer it.”

He also reiterated that he was innocent and that all charges of illegal investments in various companies overseas levelled against him were baseless.
