Art in Delhi has never had it this big. Hundred original works of Pablo Picasso, one of the most recognised figures in 20th century art, are coming to the Capital in an exhibition that opens next Thursday.

Instituto Cervantes, the Spanish Language and Cultural Centre, in collaboration with Fundacion Mapfre, a Spanish cultural foundation is presenting 100 original copper etchings made by the master himself in the showing, titled Picasso’s Suite Vollard Collection. Extraordinary care has been taken by the organisers to ensure the safety of the masterpieces, some of which fetched close to Rs 1 crore at previous auctions.

London, June 14 : Pablo Picasso's granddaughter is suing an author for claiming that her brother Pablito once tried to burgle his grandfather's home under the influence of drugs.

The case, which will highlight the tragic legacy of one of the greatest figures in 20th-century art in a Paris court, is the fourth by Picasso relatives against Pepita Dupont.

Through the case, Marina Picasso is defending the name of her brother, who killed himself by drinking bleach.

Sydney - Pablo Picasso's Sylvette set a record Wednesday as the most expensive painting sold at auction in Australia.

The brightly coloured portrait sold for 6.89 million Australian dollars (6.4 million US dollars) compared with the pre-auction estimated price of 6 million Australian dollars.

Sylvette was painted by Picasso in 1954 when the artist was in his 80s. He was captivated by Sylvette David and produced more than 40 paintings and drawings of her. (dpa)

Abu Dhabi - Paintings and sculptures of Pablo Picasso, featuring a great breadth of the works of the 20th Century artist, will be shown in an exhibition in Abu Dhabi this summer - first of its kind in the Middle East, organizers said Tuesday.

The show, "Picasso Abu Dhabi, Masterpieces from the Musee National Picasso, Paris" will run from May 27 to September 4 and span all periods and styles in Picasso's career with a total of 183 works.

London, Mar 31 : A rare Picasso painting along with two others, believed to be worth 3 million pounds would go under the hammer at Duke's of Dorchester next month.

Etreinte, the rare painting of Pablo Picasso with his lover was discovered lying in a corner of the house in the West Country, along with two other paintings by British artists George Stubbs and Sir Alfred Munnings.

Though the owner's identity is kept under wraps it is believed to be a member of an international royal family.
