Rod Stewart’s unannounced stage show surprises Jeff BeckWashington, Apr 23: British singer Rod Stewart made an unannounced stage appearance on April 21 at the El Rey theatre surprising guitar great Jeff Beck and thrilling his fans.

Stewart, 64, stunned his former bandmate when he stepped out of the shadows and started singing along to covers of Curtis Mayfield’s ‘People Get Ready’, reports Contactmusic.

They also sang Willie Dixon’s ‘I Ain’t Superstitious’, a song the pair recorded together for Jeff Beck Group’s Truth album in the late
1960s.

Stewart, 64, who beat thyroid cancer, became a patron of Busking Cancer 2009.

The weeklong event aims to raise cash for Cancer Research UK through busking.

“When it comes to busking, I’m your man. That’s how I started in the early 1960s on the streets of Paris,” the Sun quoted him as saying.

“It’s what music is all about — just getting out there and singing or playing for the sheer joy of it,” he added.

While the rocker had bought the Ferrari Superamerica and the sky-blue Lamborghini Gallardo for 150,000 pounds each, the two vehicles fetched altogether about 175,000 pounds, just over half their original price.

"Rod is known for being tight-fisted. He will not be happy," the Sun quoted a spokesman for auctioneers Coys as saying.
