Nanded (Maharashtra), Oct. 7 : Congress president and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi has arrived in Nanded, Maharashtra, to kick-start her party’s campaign for next year’s general elections.
Gandhi’s daylong visit to Nanded will include addressing a public rally and to attend the tri-centenary celebrations of the Guru-da-gaddi.

She was speaking at a rally at Panipat in Haryana on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi''s birth anniversary.
Sonia Gandhi said that the designs of terrorists would not succeed and also warned those who were trying to gain political mileage out of the issue.
“Such people are enemies of society and the country, Sonia Gandhi said, and added, “This is a national problem and everybody should come together to fight it.”
Dadri, Sep 30 : Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday said that the Manmohan Singh Government is ‘not’ soft on terror, and assured that the Centre is fully competent to deal with issues related to terrorism.
The Congress President, however, admitted that tougher legislations were needed to combat and root-out terrorism from the country.
Defending the ruling alliance, she assured that the UPA Government is taking elaborate measures to curb terrorism.
New Delhi/Kolkata, Sept 30: As Tata consider re-locating the stalled 'Nano' project, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will meet UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi here today to resolve the Singur impasse.
Mamata said that she will submit all papers to the UPA chairperson on the agreement that provides for return of maximum land from within the Tata Motors car project site at Singur to "unwilling" land-losers, signed in the presence of state Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi on September 7.

Under this scheme the state government will provide Rs 1 lakh crore bank loans to the women in the next five years at a nominal interest rate of three per cent. The government wants to achieve this target by 2013-14.
