Proteas branded with dreaded 'choker' tag ahead of WC

Proteas branded with dreaded 'choker' tag ahead of WCJohannesburg, Nov 11 : With the World Cup still three months away, a blogger has already branded South African team with the dreaded ' choker ' tag as they have not won even one out of the six World Cups.

South Africa Sunday Times blogger reveals that the pressure that comes with living with the truth of not winning any World Cup has unscrewed South Africa's courage from its sticking place too many times.

Former Australian skipper Steve Waugh, who had captained his side to World Cup glory in 1999, said that every player in the world wants to play in and win a World Cup, adding that England, South Africa and New Zealand have never managed it and they would be desperate to change that next year.

With the World Cup kicking off in less than 100 days, Australia's cricketers would be using the ODI series against South Africa to press their claims for selection.

Telford Vice, the blogger, wrote that South Africa should heap as much pressure as they can stand on themselves to win their T20s, and convincingly as it would be all the better to arrive at the World Cup not knowing how to blink when the going gets tough.

Vice claims that the pressure already builds. He wrote that South Africa was under it again on Sunday having made the Australians look silly in the first T20 on Wednesday only to look not so clever themselves in the second game on Friday.

Vice also states that thinking would matter at the World Cup. But he added that doing; not thinking, defeats pressure, and that would help them win matches. (ANI)
