Rajnath claims BJP, RLD would emerge victorious

Rajnath claims BJP, RLD would emerge victoriousSardhana (Uttar Pradesh)/Nagpur, Apr 9: Bharatiya Janata Party chief Rajnath Singh expressed confidence that the alliance between his party and the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) would emerge victorious in the upcoming polls.

Campaigning in Sardhana town of Uttar Pradesh, Rajnath said: "I want to say that this alliance will emerge victorious in these parliamentary elections, and in the assembly elections. The BJP and the RLD will form the government in the state. People will realise this after these polls."

BJP is contesting 73 of the 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, leaving the rest for the RLD.

Hitting the campaign trail, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati sought to dispel the impression that her party was anti-upper caste.

"The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has given tickets to higher castes along with the downtrodden in your Maharashtra and the entire country. Our party has also full representation of the upper castes in our organisation," she said in a public rally in Nagpur.

The main battle in the current elections is expected to be between the Congress party-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The Communists and other smaller parties have stitched together a ''Third Front'' to take on the two national coalitions. (ANI)
