Chennai, July 24 : The Q Branch of the Tamil Nadu police busted a major Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) procurement network when it arrested three persons, including a Sri Lankan from Manalmelkudi in Pudukottai district of Tamil Nadu.

The three arrested persons were Kumargurubaran (28) a resident of Chennai, Ramesh (37) hailing from Ramanathapuram, and Manamohan (28) from Pesalai, Sri Lanka.

According to the police, Manamohan was the key player in this procurement network, coordinating the operation.

Chennai, July 21 : Seven Tsunami affected fishermen will soon be visiting Vietnam for a 20-day sojourn to learn modern techniques of catching fish and trawler operations under a government project.

These farmers will be going to Vietnam under Tsunami Relief Committee’s project sponsored by Rotary Club.

Led by a former official of the Fisheries Department, these fishermen will attend a 20-day training programme and learn about the techniques and practices employed by fishermen in Vietnam.

Vietnam fishermen net an annual catch worth 6 billion dollars in the seafood sector''s turnover. Half of this sum is earned in terms of foreign exchange, propping up Vietnam''s aqua-driven economy.

The first Indian World Beach Volley Ball tournament, which is to be held at Chennai, had been surrounded by controversies. The issue was that the Indian Women’s team completely refused to wear bikinis, which was the dress code of the tournament.

But now the authorities have relaxed the dress code and made it easy for the Indian Women players by introducing sleeveless t-shirt and short trouser. The team which was about to withdraw earlier will now play in the new introduced dress code.
