Government beefs up security of top scientist; “Z” security for ISRO chief and “Y” security for six other prominent scientists

Kasab trial to begin from April 15

Kasab trial to begin from April 15Mumbai, Apr 6: The trail of Mohammed Ajmal Kasab, the lone terrorist captured in the Mumbai terror attacks last year, will begin from April 15.

The trial will begin at Arthur Road central jail.

On Sunday, Kasab''s trial was put on hold by a week, as the construction of the special court in the jail premises was not yet over.

"The construction of court''s slab is still on and the work is expected to be completed in six to seven days," special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said.

Auto lifter arrested in Soumya Vishwanathan murder case

Soumya Vishwanathan murder caseNew Delhi, Apr. 6: An auto lifter, who stole over thousand vehicles in the past 20 years, has been arrested in connection with TV news producer Soumya Vishwanathan’s murder case.

“Ajay Sethi was arrested by a special team of Delhi Police from Faridabad-Badarpur border on Sunday night and the car used in the crime was recovered,” said H G S Dhaliwal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South).

Sethi was absconding since last month after the arrest of four persons in connection with the murders of Vishwanathan and IT executive Jigisha Ghosh.

Puducherry Lt. Governor dies of a heart attack

Puducherry’s Lieutenant Governor Govind Singh GurjarNew Delhi, Apr. 6: Puducherry’s Lieutenant Governor Govind Singh Gurjar died in New Delhi on Monday following a cardiac arrest.

Gurjar, 77, was admitted to a private hospital on March 14 following a massive cardiac arrest when he was visiting his native village in Rajasthan.

He suffered another attack on Monday and was declared dead at 6:00 a. m.

Pudducherry Chief Minister, V. Vaidhilingam and his cabinet ministers have offered condolences on Gurjar’s demise.
