Pak govt sets up makeshift mart in Islamabad’s Diplomatic Enclave for foreign envoys

IslamabadIslamabad, Sept 29: With the objective of ensuring security and safety of the foreign diplomats, the Pakistan Government has reportedly set up a temporary daily mart in Diplomatic Enclave, which houses most of the embassies, to enable the foreign envoys to purchase all commodities of daily use within their residential compound and not move out in busy market areas for shopping.

The ongoing inflationary trend hitting the common man has been cited as the major reason for the shift in habits of the people here.

Rafea Manan, a fine arts student in Islamabad, said that inflation had taken its toll and people could not afford buying flour, what to speak of greeting cards.

Pakistan claims they can defeat Talibans within monthsIslamabad, Sept 28 : Pakistani General confident that the troops, which are fighting a mountain battle, can defeat the Taliban insurgents within a matter of months. 

Pakistani forces in an offensive for control over the northwestern region of Bajaur have killed up to 1,000 Islamist militants.

According to the Nation, for the past six weeks Pakistani troops supported by helicopter gunships, tanks and heavy artillery have begun to drive Taliban militants out of the tribal area of Bajaur.

Pak to take action against terrorists on its soil: Zardari

Islamabad, Sep 28 : President Asif Ali Zardari has said that only Pakistan and it’s security forces have the rights to take any action inside its border and in case America having any reservation regarding security, it should inform Pakistan despite taking action on its own. 

Zardari said this while giving interview to a US newspaper, adding that Pakistan knows it well how to take any security action against terrorists and most importantly taking any action against terrorist within its border is Pakistan’s internal matter. 

Sunni, Shiite Muslims agree to truce in tribal region

Islamabad  - Warring Sunni and Shiite Muslims in a remote Pakistani tribal region on Saturday announced an interim ceasefire after months of clashes killed more than 500 people and wounded hundreds more.

Meanwhile, troops killed at least seven militants in the raging offensive against insurgents supported by al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters near the Afghan border.

Tribal elders from the rival Bangash and Toori tribes brokered the truce in a meeting arranged by the top administrator of Kurram tribal district, Muhammad Azam Khan, in Islamabad.

The chieftains agreed to a truce until December 31 to defuse the situation in the violence-plagued mountain area near the Afghan border. Both sides will also exchange prisoners.

Zardari never wrote “May Gaad give us strut to save Pakistan”, says spokesman

Asif Ali ZardariIslamabad, Sept 27 (ANI): A presidential spokesman has denied media reports claiming that President Asif Ali Zardari had misspelled words “God” and “strength” in his message written in the visitor’s book kept at the Mazar-e-Quaid when he visited it on September 11.

The spokesman said that some unknown persons had sent mysterious emails to different journalists, TV channels and newspapers in which it had been claimed that Zardari misspelled these words.
