London, Sep 22: British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has been given time till June 2009 by his senior Cabinet ministers to prove himself capable of saving the Labour Party from a general election meltdown or face being unseated.

For the first time those loyal to Brown have put a time limit on the Prime Minister’s survival, The Telegraph reported.

Brown pleaded for more time to turn around Labour’s problems but admitted he had made mistakes. “I will do better,” he said.

London - British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said in an interview Sunday that he has made mistakes in office but will do better in future.

Speaking to the BBC on the second day of the Labour Party's annual conference in Manchester, Brown said "you asked me had we made mistakes and I said yes ... Of course I always want to do better and I will do better."

London, Sept 21 : Essex Chief Constable Roger Baker came under the criticism of Her Majesty''s Inspectorate of Constabulary (a department inspecting forces to drive improvements in policing) for sending officers to take statements from all reported crime victims.

Baker, who has won widespread support for his back-to-basics approach, had his method questioned if whether it was the best use of resources.

London, Sept 21 : A Brit man has been living the past 10 months without cash only to see if it is possible to live in a cashless society.

The pledge of not using use any currency with the Queen''s head on it, including notes, coins and even stamps for a year after a drunken bet made by James Allen last December in a pub that did not accept cards.

A web content editor by profession, Allan said that he wanted to see if it was possible to live a cash-free life, although he admitted that he thought his friend was the subject of the bet and not himself.

He only used credit and debit cards to buy goods and services.

London, Sept 21 : As the credit crunch worsens economy and raises fears of job cuts, a team of bankers hopes to pursue an alternative career after creating a Star Wars spoof.

The 10 minute spoof, made by an IT support worker Geoff Harmer, shows two colleagues battling with lightsabers in a deserted office.

The fight even takes Alan Blake and Andy Gray into a lift where they meet a tall colleague who barks at them in the style of Chewbacca, the wookiee from the original films.
