London, September 9 : You may fail your driving test just in case you drive through the water, and splash the pedestrians around.

Well, that was exactly what happened with Michelle Kelly, 31, after she passed a bus stop in Blackley, Manchester, spraying a man who was standing there.

The mother-of-two revealed that her examiner told her at the end of the test that she had failed because she should have stopped, and exchanged details with man.

The examiner was of the view that her actions constituted an accident, she said.

Kelly, who works for a funeral director, described the decision as "ludicrous" after failing.

London, September 9: A new research has suggested that advanced extraterrestrial civilizations may be sending signals through space by “tickling” stars, which would act as the galactic equivalent of the internet.

“If it exists, it might be revealed by an analysis of already-existing stellar data,” said John Learned of the University of Hawaii in Honolulu.

According to a report in New Scientist, Learned and his colleagues have focused their attention on stars that vary regularly in brightness.

London, September 9: A European Space Agency experiment has shown that microscopic animals called ‘water bears’ can survive in the vacuum of space.

According to a report in New Scientist, the tiny invertebrates, scientifically known as tardigrades, are the first animals known to be able to survive the harsh combination of low pressure and intense radiation found in space.

Tardigrades are known for their virtual indestructibility on Earth, and can survive intense pressures, huge doses of radiation, and years of being dried out.

London, Sept 9: A Polish man has been arrested on suspicion of keeping his daughter imprisoned for six years and raping her repeatedly – a case that recalls the Austrian cellar fiend Josef Fritzl.

The 45-year-old man, whose identity has been kept under wraps, was held in the town of Siedlce after his daughter, now aged 21, reported the alleged abuse.

According to the police officials, she gave birth to two children in 2005 and 2007, adding that "they were probably a result of rape".

London  - The trial of eight men accused of planning to blow up a series of transatlantic flights with liquid explosives two years ago ended in London Monday with three convictions, one acquittal and four cases of the jury failing to reach a verdict.

The allegedly al-Qaeda-inspired plot uncovered by British and US intelligence in August 2006 changed air travel forever with tough new restrictions imposed worldwide on carrying liquids in hand luggage.

But the jury at Woolwich Crown Court in London, after more than 50 hours of deliberations, did not accept the contention of the prosecution that the plot was specifically linked to blowing up passenger aircraft.
