Srinagar, Feb 8: At least three people have been killed and fifteen others trapped in a snow avalanche in Kazigund of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

According to official sources, the mishap occurred due to heavy snowfall triggering off landslides.

According to reports, rescue and relief operations are on and fifteen people have been rescued so far.

The administration has already been put on alert.

For more than a week, the Valley has been cut off from the rest of the country as road and air links have been badly disrupted.

The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained blocked today leaving thousands of people stranded.

Srinagar, Feb 4: Fresh snowfall greets SrinagarSrinagar received fresh snowfall on Monday thereby bringing relief to the residents from the extreme chill that was sweeping the Valley for past few days.

"We are happy after receiving fresh snowfall. Snowfall reduces the intensity of cold. We also get rid of impurities of water. We pray to God for more snowfall," said Imtiyaz, a resident.

Entire Srinagar is under a thick blanket of snow with trees, rooftops, roads and parks covered with excessive snow. Kids enjoyed playing with snowballs.
