According to media reports, a vocal advocate of open-carry gun laws in Wisconsin has been barred from possessing any weapons while he fights a murder charge.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has reported that a judge made that a condition of Jesus Gonzalez's bail on Thursday. Gonzalez was released on $100,000 bail last week.

Becoming the 25th U. S. state to do so, Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle Wednesday signed into law legislation banning texting or e-mailing while driving.

Green Bay's WTAQ-TV has reported that the anti-texting and e-mailing law goes into effect Dec. 1.

U. S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood lauded Wisconsin's action.

Parents should stick to chocolate bunnies, ducks and chicks for Easter, rather than live ones, to avoid bringing animal diseases into the house, Veterinarians have suggested.

The Wisconsin State Journal has reported that the animals, however cute they are, can carry bacteria, the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association has warned.

The association said, "Each spring, children become infected with Salmonella after receiving a baby chick or duckling for Easter."

Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc has signed a license agreement with the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation. The license will give drug company right to use human embryonic stem cells for developing new drugs.

The biting cold was dry, so it was not too unpleasant. In fact, at about minus 20 degrees centigrade, it was just right for them and 30 other Siberian huskies.

"This weather is ideal for my dogs," remarked John Thiel, who runs a dog-sled tour company near the northern Wisconsin town of Bayfield.

"They feel best and run fastest at these temperatures."
