Reliance Communications alone adds subscribers in November
As almost all major telecom operators like Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone continued to suffer fall in the number of subscribers, Reliance Communications managed to expand its subscriber-base further in November.
According to laset figures released by telecom regulator TRAI, Reliance gained a total of 1, 08,990 new subscribers in November, taking the total to 13.41 crore subscribers.
Bharti Airtel's subscriber-based slipped by 28 lakh customers to 18.36 crore users, while Tata Teleservices suffered a loss of 42.3 lakh users to have a total user-based of 7.25 crore. Vodafone and Idea Cellular lost 23.8 lakh users and 15.6 lakh users to 15.07 crore and 11.40 crore subcribers, respectively. Uninor suffered a loss of 4, 37,915 customers to 4.06 crore in the second-last month of 2012.
Meanwhile Bharti Airtel, the leading mobile phone firm of India, has lost three top executives. The latest loss came with the departure of Shankar Halder - the head of network operations for India & South Asia.
In December, Bharti Airtel's director for IT Amrita Gangotra and the company's supply chain head S Asokan had resigned. Gangotra had quit Airtel to join rival firm Vodafone's global team in London.
A Bharti Airtel spokesperson has confirmed that all three top executives had left the telecom operator.
