Rolta India acquires US-based Business Intelligence Firm
Mumbai-based Rolta India Limited has informed that it has finalized a deal to acquire US-based company that specializes in business intelligence.

The business intelligence acquisition will enable the company to offer various types of analytics over existing ERP (enterprise resource planning) offering as well as over the GIS solutions. The move is seen as the company’s effort to bolster its enterprise information & communication technology business.

The company plans to fund the acquisition mostly through internal accruals supported by cash reserves of Rs 500 crore.

However, Rolta has not disclosed the name of the company neither the financial specification of the deal on account of non-disclosure agreement with the target company.

Rolta India Limited, together with its subsidiaries, provides information technology (IT) solutions to the geospatial and engineering sectors. The deal is expected to be closed within a fortnight. The company has planned capex of Rs 350 crore in 2008/09 for new development centers and in its special economic zone (SEZ) coming up in Mumbai.

Recently, it has reported a 44.27% surge in its net profit to Rs 262.94 crore on 41.76% increase in total income to Rs 861.41 crore in the year ended June 2008 over the year ended June 2007. The company is eyeing a 40% growth in revenue and profit in the current fiscal, driven by more business from defense, geospatial services and energy sectors.
