ROUNDUP: Schalke confirm Kahn's ruling out of general manager job

Schalke confirm Kahn's ruling out of general manager job Hamburg  - Former Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper Oliver Kahn has ruled himself out of the running for the position of general manager at troubled Schalke 04, the Bundesliga club confirmed Friday.

Kahn was interviewed following the dismissal of Andreas Moeller on March 9 but the 39-year-old has now informed Schalke that he has no further interest in the position due to other commitments.

"I isn't possible at this moment in time. But it is not a big issue, it doesn't cause us problems," said supervisory board head Clemens Toennies.

Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voeller was also believed to be a target of Schalke but Leverkusen quickly moved to deny the report of a potential move by the former Germany coach.

Schalke on Thursday also dismissed Dutch coach Fred Rutten.

Schalke president Josef Schnusenberg said the club was looking for an interim coach for the last nine league games of the season.

"It can only be a solution for nine games," he said. "The new coach, who will have to build up a new team will have to be selected by the new general manager."

Rutten's backroom coaching team of Mike Bueskens and Youri Mulder will take control until then. (dpa)
