Sanjay Dutt wants to play real-life based characters

Sanjay DuttExpressing the desire to play characters that are exciting, challenging and more real life-based, Sanjat Dutt said he is fed up with playing a gangster in many films. The actor said he is looking at playing roles he has not done thus far.

The actor, who was seen playing negative roles with élan in films like 'Khalnayak', 'Vaastav', 'Viruddh' and 'Kaante', said: "I'm playing a very different role in my next release 'EMI'. It has turned out really, really well. And it goes into a new territory."

The versatile actor feels that 'EMI' - produced by Suniel Shetty's Popcorn Entertainment and directed by Saurabh Kabra - will prove lucky for him as well as friend Suniel Shetty, after the latter's disastrous 'Mission Istaanbul' as a producer.

Talking about 'EMI', Sanjay Dutt said that the film is a bittersweet comedy, and takes a look at contemporary India in a mirthful, subjective way.

According to a buzz going around in trade circles, Sanjay Dutt and Ekta Kapoor are set to ink a deal that would bring Sanjay Dutt Films and Balaji Telefilms into an alliance running into a multiplicity of movies and activities.

Sanjay, however, refused to comment on the deal, saying that a clearer picture would emerge towards this end once the negotiations are through.
