Madrid - Spanish Liga club Racing Santander announced on Saturday that striker Mohammed Tchite will be out of action for up to six weeks.

The Belgian-Burundian striker has torn the internal lateral ligament in his right knee. However, the club's doctors are hoping that he will not need an operation.

Tchite, 25, joined Santander in July 2007 from Belgian giants Anderlecht, and was the club's top scorer in his first season in Spain, with 24 goals. (dpa)
