Seven killed, 25 injured in train wreck near India's JaipurNew Delhi - Seven people were killed and 25 injured when several coaches of a train derailed near the northern Indian city of Jaipur Saturday, news reports said.

The Mandore Express was en route from Jodhpur town in the northern state of Rajasthan to Delhi when 11 coaches derailed about 40 kilometres south-east of state capital Jaipur, NDTV news channel reported.

Both Jodhpur and Jaipur are popular winter tourism destinations.

"Four air-conditioned and seven sleeper coaches got derailed," a railway spokesman said.

Rescuers were still searching for any passengers who might be trapped.

"We have diverted routes of 24 trains and cancelled two fast passenger trains," he said.

While all the dead were Indian citizens, the injured included a woman from New Zealand.

Three of the injured were in serious condition.

The cause of the accident was being investigated, a railway spokesman said. (dpa)
