The non-governmental organization striving for protection and conservation of environment – Greenpeace on Wednesday revealed the twelfth edition of its quarterly Guide to Greener Electronics scorecard, which ranks 17 companies manufacturing personal computers, cell phones, televisions, and gaming consoles, on the basis of their achievements of environmental goals and their accomplishment regarding e-waste, climate change, and use of toxic chemicals.

Striving to make significant impact in the global mobile phone market, the mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson has made some really important announcements at the annual JavaOne software developers' conference in San Francisco, California. Sony Ericsson has announced to launch its online software applications store like Apple’s App Store, RIM’s BlackBerry World, and Nokia Ovi Store.

The joint venture of the Japan’s Sony Corporation and the Sweden’s telecommunications company Ericsson – Sony Ericsson showcased its entire product lineup at Pepcom’s MobileFocus trade-show, at CTIA (Cellular Telephone Industries Association) convention, in Las Vegas.

Mobile major Sony Ericsson has got another reason to be back in the news. The mobile company, in collaboration with Zapak.com and Microsoft XBOX 360 launched its first gaming handset ‘F305’.

Speaking on this, Sony Ericsson General Manager Sudhin Mathur said, “The F305, which has the motion sensor technology, is the first gaming phone from the stable.”

The new mobile costs Rs 8,995.

Mathur also pointed out that the company in the coming years would launch more gaming handsets. The company already has its Walkman and Cybershot range for the music and imaging segment.

Gaming majors including Sony Ericsson, Zapak.com and Microsoft Xbox 360, on Thursday, have come together to launch World Gaming Day across the globe.

The World Gaming Day is scheduled to take place on 12th February 2009.

Indian market of late has become an important part of all tech majors so the three are pursuing this first of its kind global initiative from India.
 
With the aim to take gaming to a new height, the trio would jointly promote the initiative across media.

Thursday witnessed the launch of touch-screen smartphone, ‘Xperia X1’, by Sony Ericson, a 50:50 joint venture between Sony and Ericsson. Carrying a price tag of Rs 44,500, the latest smartphone is equipped with lots of multimedia features. It is basically aimed to serve the needs of the users related to converged entertainment and mobile web communication experience.

Anil Sethi, Sony Ericsson India President, said, “Xperia, aimed to offer energizing communication and premium mobile experience, with the promise of quality and functionality.”

Sony Ericsson has made announcement about the launching of its much-awaited Xperia X1a phone, which will hit US market on November 28.

The phone will be available through the Sony Style stores, which have already started receiving pre-orders from Thursday (November 13).

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1a, which is focused more on lifestyle of a consumer, features a brilliant 3.0-inch 16-bit color TFT touchscreen with a full QWERTY keyboard.

Recently a ‘biodegradable’ phone has been introduced by Sony Ericson, The phone reportedly will be made of materials like the bio-plastic, recycled plastic keypads, zero charger that has 3.5mW standby power. 

To add more, it will come in an eco-friendly packaging and to reduce paper waste, the manuals would be digital. 

Wednesday saw Sony Ericsson’s President Dick Komiyama announcing that the company has been studying Google's Android mobile operating system, but was not able to accept it. 

At a media event in the southern Swedish city of Lund, where the company has a research and development site, Komiyama reported, “We are certainly studying this opportunity, although we're not in a position to do this at this moment. We should look at this application. We are certainly interested.”

Tuesday saw the Mobile Phone Company Sony Ericsson, making the announcement that a new music service called PalyNow Plus will soon be launched, which will let the users download unlimited music. 

A press release issued by the company said that this new service will be powered by British music-download firm Omnifone. The music will be featured from all four of the largest recording labels. 

To tap rapidly growing entry level mobile handset market, Sony Ericsson has revealed its first “Made in India, Made for India mobile” phone, the R300 Radio phone.

The company’s latest step is an attempt to address the needs of its customers in tier 2 markets and provide them with an option to listen to their favorite show or live cricket commentary on the move.

According to the company, R300 is targeted at those customers who either don't want a phone with an MP3 player or can't afford one.

Sony Ericsson has launched its new Cyber-shot C902, latest among the Cybershot series, which promises to take camera phone technology, one step further.

Cyber-shot C902 is a 5.0 megapixel Auto Focus camera phone with sleek slide-out lens cover, which allows you to take pictures in any light conditions. It features eight camera touch keys, which lets you switch between camera mode, face detection and photoflash, all in a single touch.

After enticing users with its Walkman series phones, Sony Ericsson has come out with yet another offering in the market.

This time, the technology giant has revealed two new handsets including S302, a new camera phone and F305, a gaming handset.

Aimed at mobile gaming, the F305 is a quad-band GSM + EDGE handset, which is dressed in Polar White and Mystic Black.

Despite pre-loaded games and a modish look, the phone is expected to be loaded with new-advanced features including EDGE and built-in accelerometer for motion controlled games.

Sony Ericsson is all set to roll out two new low-priced handsets, named ‘Z780’ and ‘G502’ in the market.

The phones supporting mobile broadband using HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) will hit the market during the second quarter.

The ‘G502’ will be Sony Ericsson’s inexpensive HSDPA phone up till now. But, the company has not revealed the financial details regarding the phone.

It will bring the Web to a mainstream audience, said Sony Ericsson.

Like Nokia, LG, and Samsung, Sony Ericsson also did come at the ongoing Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in Spain with slew of phones including the G700 and G900, which are designed as touch-screen organizers to help users keep contacts, calendars, notes, pictures, and Web sites all in one place.

Sony Ericsson has launched two entry-level handsets in the Indian market.

 The newly launched handset models ‘R300i’ and ‘R306i’ has been priced between Rs 3,500-5,000.

The company claims that both handsets are designed to deliver a
"credible" radio-listening experience.

The R300i Radio phone includes a VGA camera while the R306i has a 1.3
megapixel camera. However, both phones feature Bluetooth, GPRS and radio
recording.

Sony Ericsson India has made announcement of the launching of its latest slim slider mobile phone 'W910i' in the Indian market. It weighs just 86 gms, and has dimensions of 99.5 x 50 x 12.5 mm.

The two new features added to the phone include ‘Shake Control’ and ‘SenseMe’. The new Shake Control system permits users to adjust music tracks by waving the phone in the air. Additionally, the phone also has with an auto-rotating display for the media section.

On the other hand, the SenseMe aspect lets users to arrange their music path according to their mood rather than record album or artists.
