IBM releases solutions to rein data overflow An array of about 40 solutions were released today by IBM, taking off from the global concern of skyrocketing data volumes, the perennial lack of physical storage spaces and being sensitive about carbon footprints. These solutions will aim at tackling this data overflow using technologies, which are 'disruptive' in nature. 

IBM brought into the light the IBM XIV system, which is a highly scalable disk storage system optimized to handle content from Web 2.0 applications to traditional applications such as financial services.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said earlier in the day that Russia would deploy short-range Iskander missiles in its Baltic Sea enclave, which borders Lithuania, in answer to US plans to site a missile defence system in Eastern Europe.

London, Nov 5 : The original owners of a pirated video will now be able to make profit when the copied content will be broadcasted online, all thanks to a new technology developed by California-based company Auditude.

The new system will simply overlay copyright-infringing footage with advertising designed to generate revenue from the video sharing websites like MySpace and YouTube.

Such sites have often been asked to remove content like music videos and TV shows uploaded without permission from the copyright holders.

The sites have been accused of profiting from such activity, which is considered to be a major block in making profit from providing free video online.

Hong Kong student hacks prizes in online McDonald's contestHong Kong - A Hong Kong student has been convicted of fraud after hacking into a McDonald's website to claim all the prizes in on online competition, a news report said Wednesday.

Computer engineering undergraduate Lee Tsz-ho, 22, changed the e-mail addresses of the winners so he could claim all five prizes in the competition, the Hong Kong Standard reported.

He was caught when the genuine winners checked with McDonald's to ask why they had not been sent their winners' e-mails, the newspaper said. The prizes were five mobile phones.
