TGB enters food business
Trying to grab the opportunities that the food business provides, Tata Global Beverages Ltd (TGB) is now looking to enter this segment. Said Tata Group's Chairman, Ratan Tata that he would want to address the nutritional and lifestyle challenges.
He made this statement during the annual general meeting of the group. TGB, had been involved with the business of plantation and later on formed tie-ups to be able to sell its health-related beverages; a segment that it had jumped into.
Now, the company wants to use the same distribution channel to be able to sell its branded food. The food business is quite vulnerable and full of competition. But, Tata with its experience is sure that it will be able to make a mark for itself.
Tata as of now has its venture into the mineral water segment through Mount Everest brand in which it holds 41.1 per cent share. Analysts also believe that through its new venture, the company may be able to turn around its loss-making Himalayan brand of bottled water.
Post the announcement, shares if TGB went up by 5 per cent to end at rupees 116.85.
