Three coalition soldiers, one interpreter killed in Afghanistan

Kabul  - Three coalition soldiers and a local interpreter were killed in an attack on a coalition convoy in Maidan Wardak province on Friday morning, an official said.

A military statement issued from Bagram military base said the attack took place in Sayedabad district, destroying one vehicle.

"Severe blast and fire damage was inflicted on the vehicle; two of the deceased were recovered at the site while two sets of remains were located in a nearby field," it added. The remains are pending identification, said the statement.

Coalition forces and Afghan National Security Forces secured the scene and are searching for the attackers.

Names, nationalities, and identification of the deceased were being withheld until next-of-kin notification is completed. (dpa)
