Three newcomers as Frings and Lusaka - Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in Zambia's north-central Comiss England match

Germany captain Michael BallackHamburg - Torsten Frings asked to be omitted for Germany's friendly with England after a recent row and captain Michael Ballack is recovering from injury as coach Joachim Loew on Thursday nominated three newcomers into his 20-player squad.

Defender Marvin Compper and midfielder Tobias Weis from Bundesliga sensation TSG Hoffenheim as well as VfL Wolfsburg defender Marcel Schaefer were invited for the first time ahead for Wednesday's match in Berlin.

Also uncapped is Werder Bremen goalkeeper Tim Wiese, who is the likely reserve man again behind Rene Adler from league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

"We want to use the last match of the year to try out a few things and to have some impressions for next year. The three newcomers have deserved their nomination through their performance," said Loew.

The Werder Bremen midfielder Frings, meanwhile, said that Loew showed no respect for veteran players after he was benched by the coach in two World Cup qualifiers last month.

Ballack also attacked Loew over the issue but both had to apologize to Loew. While Chelsea's Ballack is still sidelined after foot surgery Frings asked Loew to keep him out of the squad.

"We agreed that I won't be there. I told the coach during our meeting last week I would be better if I don't come," Frings told Kicker sports magazine.

Philipp Lahm, Clemens Fritz, Marcell Jansen and Christian Pander are also missing for health reasons.

Of the three newcomers, Schaefer, 24, could earn a first cap as Loew said "he gets his deserved chance because Lahm, Jansen and Pander are not available on the left side."

Compper, 23, can also be used on the left side or as a central defender, with Loew naming him "one of our young and developing players." His Hoffenheim teammate Weis, also 23, is "an alternative for the established players in midfield," according to Loew.

Ballack, Frings and Lahm will be at the team as Loew is to use the opportunity of the match to lay down some rules and guidelines on how he expects his players to behave for the rest of the qualification campaign for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.

Bonuses for successful qualifying are also to be discussed by players and the national federation DFB.
