Tourism Ministry Ropes In ‘Aamir’ For Social Awareness Ad CampaignAfter his record-breaking performance in ‘Ghajini’, Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan will now be seen asking countrymen not to misbehave with foreign tourists and spoil monuments.

The will be a major part of the social awareness campaign started by the Tourism Ministry.

The campaign comes at a time when India has repeatedly hit global headlines over rape and harassment cases of foreign vacationers.

Mr. Sujit Banerjee, Tourism Secretary, said that Aamir will be seen promoting the campaign in TV ads, national newspapers and also on Internet.

The ministry has also launched an Internet site ‘www.atithi.org.in’ in order to get suggestions from people.

The campaign comprising two TV commercials; one on sensitising against misbehaviour with foreign tourists and the other against littering and defacing tourist places.

Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the script of the advertisements have been written by ace lyricist Prasoon Joshi.

According to Banerjee, Khan and the team worked free of cost for the campaign.

The newly launched website became ready with Aamir seeking involvement of visitants to get up against misconduct with tourists and stop people from defacing the tourist spots.

This will be supplemented by posters at strategic points to make the campaign a complete integrated programme that will eventually take form of a mass movement.
