UK visit of the Pope could cost 12 million euros to the taxpayers

UK visit of the Pope could cost 12 million euros to the taxpayersThe government has announced that the cost of the Pope’s visit to UK could cost around 12 million euros to the taxpayers.

The cost has risen up to 4 million euros more than that of the estimated figure earlier.

A government official has said that the bill for the trip does not include the policing costs of the government otherwise it will exceed that figure.

The main event to be held has been moved to a smaller venue out of Birmingham from the Coventry airport.

In his four-day trip, the Pope will visit Glasgow, London and Edinburgh. This trip will also cost more than 7 million euros to the Catholic Church.

This visit will be the first official visit of a Pope to the UK. Before this Pope John Paul II had visited the UK in the year 1982 but that was a purely pastoral visit. This visit of the Pope Benedict XVI will be a combined visit of both pastoral events and formal state business. This visit has been in controversy UK because of the cost and the issue of child abuse within the Catholic Church.
