United dominate PFA shortlist
London - Manchester United provide five of the six candidates on the shortlist to be PFA Player of the Year, it was revealed on Tuesday. Goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, defenders Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, midfielder Ryan Giggs and winger Cristiano Ronaldo, who won the award last year, are all shortlisted, along with Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
United also provide two of the players on the shortlist for Young Player of the Year, defenders Jonny Evans and Rafael da Silva.
That list is completed by Aston Villa forwards Gabriel Agbonlahor and Ashley Young, Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland and Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon.
The winners will be revealed next month. (dpa)
