US can carry out a direct military operation inside Pakistan: Bush
Lahore, Dec 3: US President George W Bush has said that his country could carry out a direct military operation inside Pakistan if Washington got definite and concrete reports about the presence of Osama bin Laden there.
Explaining his standpoint regarding venturing into an operation inside Pakistan if reports regarding the presence of Osama there proved right, President Bush maintained, "I still stand on the same stance that US will undertake direct action on the Pakistani soil against Osama if his presence is proved."
Appreciating President Pervez Musharraf for fulfilling his promise of quitting the Army office, US President Bush told CNN that he (Musharraf) had rendered invaluable services and played an important role for the restoration of democracy in Pakistan.
Commenting on the ongoing war on terror, he said Pakistan had played a vital role in this regard and arrested many al-Qaeda operatives under Musharraf’s leadership, for which "we are grateful to Islamabad."
To another question about Iran, he said the attitude of the Iranian leaders was not constructive and positive and they did not believe in democracy.
If Iran attacked Israel, the US would support its ally, Bush added. (ANI)
