Manmohan Singh favours more road links with PoK

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Akhnoor (J-K), Apr 26 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has favoured more road links with the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) to build confidence.

Addressing a public meeting after dedicating the longest bridge over the Chenab River here on Friday, Dr. Singh said New Delhi is in favour of weekly bus service between Srinagar and Muzafarabad and Poonch and Rawalakote.

He also said New Delhi has taken up with Islamabad the opening up of Kargil Skardu and Jammu Sialkot roads also.

The Prime Minister said this would lead to further strengthening of cultural, educational and commercial relations between two sides.

Noting that India and Pakistan have had friendly dialogue on all issues that affect the live of Jammu and Kashmir, he expressed the hope that New Delhi will continue to deepen its dialogue with the democratically-elected government"in Islamabad.

"I hope that we (India and Pakistan) will be able to put the past behind us and that we can move forward with a sense of urgency, not inhibited by false fears or narrow agendas," Singh said. (ANI)
