Jindal Steel & Power to start gas production in Bolivia by June this year

Jindal Steel & Power LtdIndia's Jindal Steel and Power, the third largest steel manufacturing company in India, expects to start producing gas in Bolivia in June this year, for export to Argentina.

A company official, who did not want to be recognized, informed that the gas supplies would come from a processing plant in the eastern province of Santa Cruz.

It should be noted that the company and its Bolivian partners began drilling at the El Palmar gas field at the end of March and have already invested around $7 million in the project.

Cryolor intends to setup a manufacturing unit near ChennaiCryolor, French industrial gas tanks manufacturer and a 100 per cent subsidiary of Cryolor SA, has decided to set up a manufacturing facility near Chennai.

The plant would be setup at Melmaruvattur in Chennai, covering a built up area of 15,000 sq. m.

The company intends to pump an investment worth Rs 45 crore on the plant through its fully owned subsidiary Cryolor Asia Pacific.

Deepam Hospital to setup 200-bed multi-specialty hospital in ChennaiDeepam Hospitals group (DHG) is presently working on the setup of a 200-bed high-end tertiary care hospital in the region.

The multi-speciality hospital project is estimated to cost Rs 60 crore.

It should be noted that the firm has already signed an agreement worth Rs 30 crore with State Bank of India, to fund its upcoming project.

More than 10% of full-time retail workers laid-off by Apple

AppleDespite having posted the quite favorable 2009 second quarter results, there are indications that Apple is cutting costs in order to battle out the impact of the still-ongoing financial meltdown - laying-off full-time retail employees being one of the practical measures undertaken by the company.

In its 10-Q form filed with the SEC, Apple has made a mention of 14,000 full-time retail employees at the end of the last quarter; though the number of employees mentioned in the same document, for the December 2008 quarter, was 15,600.

Currently, the company has 8 distributors throughout the country and its products are available at major retail chains. The firm has been operating in the country, for the past two years.

The company expects to clock turnover of Rs 1 crore this fiscal, with the setup of new manufacturing facility. Presently, the company has three manufacturing units in Brazil.
