Calcutta HC Wants Todi’s Medical ReportThe Calcutta High Court on Friday directed the superintendent of Presidency jail to provide a complete report on the medical condition of Todi report before Monday, when the bail appeal would be heard again.

Ashok Todi was admitted to the jail hospital since he was remanded to judicial custody by a city court on December 1 following his surrender on a Supreme Court directive.

Following submissions about Todi’s physical condition by his counsels and the CBI, a division bench, including Justice Amit Talukdar and Justice P S Banerjee, directed the superintendent of Presidency Jail to present a report since his first day of admission to the jail hospital.

CBI counsel Ranjan Roy said that it was not as much the health condition, but pressure that got Todi admitted to the hospital.

Seven persons, which include an IPS officer and two Kolkata police officers, have been charged with abetment to suicide, criminal intimidation and conspiracy in the Rizwanur Rahman death case in which Ashok Todi is the main accused.

Rizwanur’s body was found beside railway tracks a month after his marriage to Todi's daughter Priyanka. Rizwanur had allegedly been forced to allow his wife to go back to her parents on an assurance that she would be brought back after a week. But the promise failed and he allegedly committed suicide.
