Carla Bruni, ‘the modern day Marie Antoinette'

France’s one of the most influential political journals, has given a tag name -"modern-day Marie Antoinette", to the country’s most glamorous lady Carla Bruni. The journal also reported that Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy, like King Louis’ (XVI) wife, thinks herself to be one of the most beautiful woman in Europe.

'Marianne' criticized the 40 year old supermodel-turned-singer for her continual preening and showing off for the media that has intensified even more with the release of  the pop star’s upcoming album. It follows Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy nude pictures as well as the intimate interviews in which she discusses not only her love life but her Left-wing political instincts also.

Due to the release of such pictures, tortuous comments and her comparison with Marie Antoinette (the ill-fated wife of King Louis XVI who was beheaded during the French Revolution), the pop singer appears distinctly foolish. Contrarily, the singer’s conservative husband, Nicolas Sarkozy, is seen making efforts to reform France with a Right-wing agenda.

According to the writer of the article, Nicolas Domenach, the public is tired and bugged up with the lady, however, "the president himself seems to be saying at every opportunity 'Isn't she beautiful, isn't she clever, doesn't she sing well?” Domenach added that " she is not so much a perfume but a very strong air freshener that we use to cover up unpleasant smells in public places."

Mr Domenach commented that the endless photos of Carla cosying up to Nicolas have become nothing more than a crude pretence.
