Fantastic Opening For ‘Ghajini’; ‘Rab Ne’ Continues To Be Strong!

GHAJINI - RAB NE Two multi-talented Bollywood actors Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan have brought people back to the cinema halls after the Mumbai terror attacks.

The superb performance of SRK’s ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, and the impressive beginning of Aamir’s ‘Ghajini’ proved that if you give the viewers what they wish for, they’ll flock.

Both the movies have brought some end-of-the-year cheer to the Hindi film industry.

According to recent reports, the Murugadoss directed film Ghajini is heading for a surprising 35–40 crore weekend, if collections hold at the current level.

What is good is that collections are great from all over India.

Following all that, Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne… is continuing its prideful journey, with a rock steady second week, after a wonderful first one!

The film has made around 23–24 crores during the second week, for a huge total of 67–68 crores in just two weeks.

The film is turning out to be the biggest profit making project for Yash Raj Films, which is still holding very well, befitting of an SRK–Aditya project.

Here is a hope that both ‘Ghajini’ and ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ continue their successive run, well into 2009!

Despite all that, the question in everyone’s mind is – “What Next?” and the first movie that comes to mind is ‘Chandni Chowk To China (CC2C)’ starring Akshay Kumar and Deepika padukone.

The movie will hit theatres on 16 January and it’ll surely be the first biggie of 2009.

While sporadic promotions around the film started sometime back, the makers seem to have been waiting for the ‘Ghajini’ wave to pass and then go the whole hog on CC2C.

Akki has been a crowd puller recently; but, hopes will be especially high after the viewers has tasted ‘Ghajini’ and the marketing hype around it.
