Imran blames his devotion to politics for breakdown of marriage with Jemima

Imran KhanLondon, Mar. 7: Former Pakistan cricket captain, Imran Khan has blamed his devotion to politics for the breakdown of his marriage with his British wife, Jemima.

Cricketer turned politician Khan said that his marital life with Jemima suffered because of his devotion to politics.

Khan, in an interview with the Times online said: “I always assumed that my wife fell in love with me because of my passions and ambitions. I was never going to be a 9 to 5 job kind of guy. I was never interested in money. I was always an idealist, a dreamer who believed in things that others thought were impossible.”

Talking about his cross-cultural marriage, he admitted that it was difficult for Jemima to adopt Pakistani culture and society. “Cross-cultural marriages are always more difficult. In the Western countries, marriages are difficult. All my friends have got divorced, some of them twice,” Khan said.

On his alleged affairs with several women during his cricketing days, Khan said he enjoyed his image of a ‘playboy’.

“Everything is part of the evolutionary process. I have no regrets – I was never decadent. Decadent people have no passion in life, they are hedonists. I played international cricket for 21 years, longer than anyone else. I was extremely disciplined,” he added.

On plans of a probable remarriage, Khan said that he did not want to do it again.

“It’s certainly not on the radar, these are turbulent times in Pakistan, I do not want to put any woman at risk,” he concluded. (ANI)
