FCC approves net neutrality rules

London, Feb 27 - The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has reportedly approved net neutrality rules that will prohibit paid prioritisation, and the blocking and throttling of lawful content and services in the United States, a report said.

The changes proposed by Chairman Tom Wheeler got the commission's nod after three commissioners voted in favour as opposed to two who voted against it, reported the BBC.

The U. S. Telecommunications Industry Association has asked broadband providers to "immediately" take legal action over the rule changes.

Swine influenza: 39 more deaths, toll nears 1000 mark

New Delhi - Swine flu claimed 39 more lives as the death toll reached closer to the 1000 mark while the number of people affected with the H1N1 virus across the country crossed 17,000 Thursday.

Ministry sources said 965 people have perished due to the disease while the total number of people affected with the seasonal influenza virus has crossed the 17,000 mark till the evening of February 25.

The Health Ministry had yesterday put the total number of deaths at 926 and the number of affected persons at 16,235.

Fresh cases were reported from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, Nagaland and Bihar among other states.

New Delhi, Feb 26 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the railway budget presented by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu was indicative of his government's noble endeavor with respect to the needs of the common man, and added that the proposal is aimed at benefitting the poorest of the poor in the country.

"The railway budget, in the past, had focused on how many coaches would be added, how many coaches would have air-conditioning and how many trains would be added to the existing network. For the first time, we have a railway budget targeting Rs eight lakh crores without raising passenger fares. This is a reflection of the government's noble and accomplished motive," Prime Minister Modi said.

Washington, Feb 26 : A new study shows that an individual's breakfast habits play a vital role in gradually increasing the protein intake in the morning.

The study led by University Of Missouri-Columbia found that the metabolic responses to eating a high-protein breakfast were different from breakfast skippers than to who daily have their morning meal.

The researchers explained that the habitual breakfast skippers experienced poorer glucose control throughout the day when they consumed a high-protein breakfast, whereas those who typically ate a high-carbohydrate breakfast had improved glucose control after they ate a high-protein breakfast.
