New Delhi, Feb 20 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday said special status will be given for five years to Seemandhra region - the residual state of Andhra Pradesh following creation of a separate Telangana.

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha on the bill to create a separate Telangana state, the prime minister said that the bill already stipulates that the central government shall take appropriate fiscal measures, including offer of tax incentives to the successor states in order to promote industrialization and economic growth in both the states.

New Delhi, Feb 20 : Telecom service provider Bharti Airtel is not satisfied with the Feb 14 judgment of the Lagos Court of Appeal and will lodge an appeal at the Supreme Court of Nigeria, a company statement said here Thursday.

The ruling of the court means Bharti Airtel will now have to pay up $3 billion to the African telecom operator Econet Wireless. The court has said Econet was a bonafide stakeholder in Airtel Nigeria.

State-owned power giant NTPC has announced its plans to set up two more projects in Madhya Pradesh, NTPC Chairman & Managing Director Arup Roy Choudhury announced on Wednesday.

Mr. Choudhury made the announcement at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Gadarwara power plant. He said two more power plants would be set up at Khargone and Barethi in the state.

He also assured that NTPC would stick to best environmental operational standards while developing the Gadarwara power project.

Commuters can finally travel on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway for free without suffering huge traffic snarls at toll plazas as the expressway has been made toll-free.

The Delhi-Gurgaon expressway which links the national capital and the satellite town in Haryana is used by lakhs of commuters daily. The Gurgaon toll plaza had been a major traffic bottleneck on the busy expressway.
