Turmeric settled up 2.92% at 6564 as farmers hold back supplies on expectation of higher prices and on worries about the quality of crop because of excess rains in Andhra Pradesh state. Turmeric is seen trading firm until the new crop arrives in the market.

Chana settled down -1.32% at 2986 on prospects of better crop, sluggish local demand and higher stocks. However, after report of decline in sowing area, stockists have gone slow in releasing their stocks, adding to rise in chana prices in the past few days.

Soyabean settled down -0.51% at 3824 as bearish cues from overseas markets are making buyers cautious. Hope of better output from South American countries is making the buyers cautious. But domestic prices are getting support from declining arrivals.

Menthaoil settled up 0.57% at 833 tracking a firm trend at spot market on rising demand from consuming industries.  Tight stocks position in the physical market due to less arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh further fuelled the uptrend.

Nickel settled up 1.08% at 887.30 despite of the Federal Reserve announced plans to reduce monthly asset purchases to USD75 billion from USD85 billion starting in January. The Fed announced Wednesday that it would reduce its USD85 billion-a-month bond buying program by USD10 billion in January. In his last press conference as Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke said the economy was continuing to make progress.

Zinc settled up 0.28% at 123.95 as supply is tight and China's MMG Ltd said a new zinc mine in Australia would miss its startup date because of technical issues, potentially triggering a global pinch. While pressure seen by fears that Fed's QE tapering may diminish metals demand.
